** Death in Slow Motion by Eleanor Cooney

Much like the author of Mother Daughter Me, Eleanor Cooney finds herself  inviting her mother into the home she shares with her partner near Santa Rosa, CA, and the transition is rough for all involved, as she details in  Death in Slow Motion: A Memoir of a Daughter, Her Mother, and the Beast Called Alzheimer’s. As her mother’s health deteriorates, she searches for help, hard to find on a budget, and eventually for an acceptable assisted living facility, which turns out to be extremely difficult and near-disastrous.  What makes the story so interesting is the author’s openness about her travails and sometimes ill-considered decisions, as well as her obvious love for an often difficult mother.
