* Fi by Alexandra Fuller

Fi: A Memoir of My Son tells the story of a loss we parents don’t want to even think about, that of a child. Written by a prolific memoir writer whose previous stories I loved, this one is at the same time devastating and also a bit self-indulgent as the book moves into its second half, although to be sure it’s awkward to fault a grieving parent. There are some wonderful notes of her relationships with and love of her children, all three of them.
