** My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem

In My Life On The Road, Gloria Steinem tells her story, starting with the traveling life her parents, especially her father,  chose for their family, and continuing with the many, many trips that she took as an activist and a public speaker. The best parts for me were the personal bits, especially her close relationship with her father and her eager curiosity about everyone she meets (something she probably inherited from her dad). She seems to be able to speak with everyone she meets and get people to open up and tell her their very personal stories.

There are also many discussions of politics, which I found turned easily shrill and occasionally naive. For instance, her insistence that Native Americans treated women equally seems pollyannaish when she writes that the councils were made up exclusively of males.
