** Here Comes The Sun by Nicole Dennis-Benn

There are some savagely well-observed moments in Here Comes The Sun, in particular the difficult coexistence of the tourist industry with the locals. There is also a formidable heroine, Margot, who will stop at nothing to gain power and wealth. But the story felt hackneyed to me, apart from the unusual Jamaican setting — and also terribly depressing, with no hope for any of the characters.
