*** Shelter by Jung Yun

Shelter tells the story of an apparently mild-mannered Korean-American college professor whose life gets derailed when his dysfunctional and estranged parents get attacked and he has to both take care of them and revisit his tough childhood. He cracks under the pressure and the book details his spiral down. It’s intense and the contrast with the plain, direct writing style is refreshingly effective.
