* Murder By Candlelight by Michael Knox Beran

I found Murder by Candlelight: The Gruesome Crimes Behind Our Romance with the Macabre to be a very strange book. It features a series of gruesome murders in 19th Century England, connected loosely by a history of literature featuring similar crimes.

It might be of interest to book lovers who have read (and remember!) crime novels of that era. Otherwise, it is nothing more than a series of crime stories, and since they are told quite plainly there’s none of the suspense of crime novels.
