** Success in Africa by Jonathan Berman

Finally, a book about Africa that is not filled with stories of corruption and despair. Instead, Success in Africa: CEO Insights from a Continent on the Rise shows us a continent with fast-growing economies (alongside the basket cases, which the book does not avoid mentioning) and inspiring entrepreneurs who are not afraid to brave the bureaucracy, the daunting physical distances, and the vast differences between countries to build sizable businesses.

Alas, the CEOs of the title appear only in small anecdotes so it’s difficult to get to know them or their stories, and how they built their  companies. So the book sounds more like a preachy admonition for Western companies to invest in Africa than a compendium of personal success stories in a place that the media love to demonize.
