* Dying to be Me by Anita Moorjani

The author of Dying to Be Me: My Journey from Cancer, to Near Death, to True Healing nearly died from cancer, and then, mysteriously and as if miraculously, survived and found that her cancer had disappeared. A near-death experience must have immense emotional impact, and one can understand how the author was changed by it and moved to lead a different life, one in which she finds herself possessing boundless energy and no fear. At the same time, there’s no evidence whatsoever for her to opine that her cancer (Hodgkin’s lymphoma) was caused by fear, as she claims! Indeed, one could instead say with more certainty that the remission of her cancer removed her fear… It’s wonderful that she was able to change her life outlook to one of confidence, and it may be even desirable for all of us to acquire more self-confidence — but we can work on our fearless selves without reading this story that defies logic (and could use a good editor to boot).
