In Cheap we Trust by Lauren Weber

In CHEAP We Trust is a strangely fashioned book that explores thrift as a virtue. It contains sometimes surprising historical vignettes: rather than urging us to shop to sustain the economy the US government once urged citizens to save and create a budget. School children were asked to write essays about thrift and to contribute to savings accounts during class! Today only a small majority of Americans put away any money at all but perhaps thrift is coming back, under the green umbrella?
I wish the book could be more organized: it’s hard to discern a theme or a purpose, so it’s hard to remember its content just a few days after reading it…
